Painting with Paint Drops {Art Experiments}

If you’re one of those people who lives on Pinterest like I do (and if you are, won’t you follow me?) you’ve probably seen the pin for the Easy Abstract Painting DIY from Craft Pond a few hundred times.

It’s a really cute and easy idea: just take a canvas, put little dots of paint all over it, swirl them together (she uses a wet brush) and there’s your piece.

The Bit had a similar idea the other day when she wanted to paint but didn’t want to bother with a palette. She asked me to drop some paint onto a piece of construction paper for her to swirl around. paint drop painting

She mostly used her fingers — well, it was fingerpaint — and didn’t really mix the colors together, which is classic Bit. drop paintings

I still think they’re pretty.

Later that day when she was at school I decided to make one of my own. I can see how a wet brush would help, but since I was just using construction paper I left mine dry. swirl painting

I still think it turned out interesting, if not as beautifully abstract as the one on Craft Pond.
